Holy Sh*t, I Published a Book!

I'm late in getting a post up about this but HOLY SHIT I PUBLISHED A BOOK! My debut novel, Call on Me, is almost two months old. It's been out on the Internet for amost a WHOLE SEASON for people to buy and enjoy.

Of course, I've spent most of the last month or so refreshing my sales numbers, Goodreads, and Amazon to see how it’s all shaking out. I also took the time to celebrate with a quick dinner & cocktail hour with friends to because every book deserves a little book party!

Since Call on Me is set in Chicago, and I wrote the book while living in Chicago, I decided to revisit the neighborhood where the original draft was born.

Picture it, Chicago 2012...

A lost girl, fresh out of college and hating her internship, questioning the past 7 (yes I was on the long college plan) of her life. Originally conceived as a fan fiction, I was writing two stories at once in between doing work for the marketing agency where I was interning. That summer, I really began to question if I had chosen the wrong path in life because I spent the past year rediscovering how much I loved writing and storytelling.

Of all the stories I wrote for FF (dot) net, Call on Me really felt like my own. It had such a dedicated following in fandom, with very complimentary readers, that it inflated my ego just enough to know that I had to somehow turn it into a "real" original work.

Thank you to everyone out there who has purchased my first book and who have taken the time to share their love for it with me and others. I think the biggest surprise is when total strangers tell me how much the loved it (this has happened both in person and online).

If you haven’t yet, go buy Call on Me. If you have bought it, tell people about it! And hop over to Amazon and Goodreads to leave a review. Remember: self published authors rely on that word of mouth to get their book out there. I need your mouths!...wait, there’s gotta be a better way to say that...

xoxo,

Katie
